SLD Curriculum
Student Leadership Development serves as the primary onboarding training for new Resident Assistants (RA's) and introduces them to several aspects of their new role. Within the RA position, Residential & Community Living (R&CL) utilizes 14 core competencies to evaluate and assess an individual RA's performance. These competencies appear in various aspects of the role - from connecting with residents to working with Lead Staff (also known as Resident Directors and Assistant Resident Directors).
Student Leadership Development serves as an introduction to these competencies and how to implement them in the work of the Resident Assistant role. While SLD will introduce these topics, Resident Assistants will also work alongside their supervisors to continue trainings and support in these competencies throughout the Academic Year. |

How will SLD introduce the competencies?
Our Student Leadership Development Committee has grounded our trainings within several learning outcomes. These are not just goals that we have for the time we spend together, but actionable items that new and returning Resident Assistants will walk away with. By knowing what we want to have our staff walk away knowing, we are able to better create trainings for you! Please reference the table below for more information about these learning goals.
